Lira district vice chairman Bonny Omara said the ministry of public service has suspended recruitment in Lira and other districts until the issues of discrepancies in salary enhancement among staff is resolved.
Omara said much as they are experiencing shortage of human resource in different departments, their hands remain tied on recruiting more staff.
Among the departments where staff are supposed to be recruited in Lira district include; education with 40, health, 36 staff among others.
The chairperson Lira District Service Commission Rev. James Awany said the district received 4 billion shillings from ministry of public service but the money could not be utilized after the Ministry suspended staff recruitment.
