Gov’t to conduct mineral survey in Kwania district

Ministry of energy and mineral development will begin conducting mineral survey in Kwania district.

In stakeholders’ meeting held at Kwania district headquarters on Wednesday, the district leaders were tasked to sensitize locals on this program.

Joshua Lukaye, the acting assistant commissioner and Exploration officer in ministry of energy said the mineral survey will begin in August 2023.

Bernard Opolot Apollo the Chief Administrative Officer of Kwania equally called for sensitization of the masses for the success of this program.

Alex Geofery Ogwal Adyebo, the LCV chairperson of Kwania asked the people of the district to welcome this program since they will benefit from revenue realized from it.

In 1994 a “Magnetic Survey”  was conducted and it discovered some mineral deposits including oil the in districts neighboring Lake Kyoga and Kwania like Dokolo, Amolatar, Kwania, Apac, Buyende and Nakasongola.
