Parents of Aninolal Primary School in Namasale Subcounty, Amolatar district, will utilise iron sheets received from the Office of the Prime Minister to construct teachers’ houses after a long wait for the government to build a new school.

In 2021, floods from Lake Kyoga submerged Aninolal Primary School. Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja visited the school and promised to build a new one but later only sent iron sheets in 2022.

Amolatar district chairman Ocen Geoffrey stated that parents will now use the 200 iron sheets to build houses for teachers displaced by the floods. Ocen mentioned that the district has already allocated funds to construct seven classrooms for the school at a new site where it has been relocated.

Ocen said their efforts to engage the Office of the Prime Minister to construct Aninolal Primary School have proved futile.

In 2022, the school had a population of 600 pupils.
