A male youth from Kangai sub county, Dokolo district, has missed the ongoing probationer police constable recruitment exercise after being arrested for allegedly killing his stepfather.

Dokolo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Barbra Akech, told Voice of Lango FM on Sunday evening that the suspect assaulted both his mother and stepfather, accusing the latter of “inheriting” his mother.

The stepfather was rushed to Dokolo Health Centre IV but later succumbed to his injuries.

According to RDC Barbra Akech, the suspect had expressed interest in joining the police but used the period before recruitment to attack his stepfather in a fit of rage.

She added that the suspect had previously assaulted his mother and set fire to her belongings over the same issue.

North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are currently underway.

The police recruitment exercise continues today in Amolatar and Otuke districts, with the Uganda Police Force aiming to recruit 10,000 new probationer constables this year.
