Residents of Ibuje subcounty and town council in Apac district have decried the poor condition of the road from Ibuje swamp bridge to Corner Ami, which connects to the Masindi port ferry and has been cut off by floods.

Emmanuel Acobi, a businessperson among other locals of Ibuje town council, stated that Sadeem Al-Kuwait for General Trading and Constructing Company, which is constructing the 90.3 km Masindi port ferry (Rewenkunye) to Apac town road, has taken too long to complete the bridge, adversely affecting the transportation of goods to Masindi port.

Alfred Jowaso Engim, the LC3 chairman of Ibuje town council, said he visited the offices of Sadeem Al-Kuwait but did not receive a clear response on the matter. He warned that they may resort to protests if the issue is not urgently addressed.

George Abudul, the RDC of Apac, said they held a security meeting yesterday and resolved to write to Sadeem Al-Kuwait requesting an explanation for the delays in completing the bridge work.

Efforts to contact Sadeem Al-Kuwait’s engineer, Bernard Eyotre, were unsuccessful as our reporter could not reach him in the office and his phone was switched off by press time.
