North Kyoga traffic officer Mathias Okwir transferred to East Kyoga

SP Mathias Okwir Mulumba, Traffic Officer for the North Kyoga region, has been transferred to the East Kyoga region, with ASP Chelangat Irene stepping in as his replacement.

SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, North Kyoga regional police spokesperson, praised Okwir for his efforts in promoting road safety among drivers and boda-boda riders in Lango. Okema also urged residents to support Chelangat in her new role.

At his farewell event at 291 Suites Hotel in Lira City, Okwir encouraged the police to collaborate with boda-boda riders, recognising the valuable information they provide on criminal activity.

He also highlighted the road safety training initiatives he spearheaded, which helped reduce accidents in the North Kyoga region.

Lira City Deputy Mayor, Rebecca Alwedo Ogole, commended Okwir for his efforts in managing street vending, easing traffic congestion, and fostering unity among boda-boda associations.

Kole Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Josephine Omara Olili, praised Okwir for his dedicated service, while Assistant Lira Resident City Commissioner, Bonny Ferdinand Okello Alele, acknowledged the strong inter-departmental cooperation under his leadership, which strengthened peace efforts in Lira City.
