Lango’s best UCE student intends to become a doctor

Lango Sub Region’s best performing student in the just released Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams, Ekwany Rita has revealed that her dream is to become a medical doctor.

Ekwany Rita, 17, a resident of Angwet-angwet A cell, Lira city east division, Lira city studied and sat for her UCE exams from St. Mary’s Girls’ College-Aboke, Kole district, and got aggregate 10, emerging as the best student in Lango.

Ekwany has attributed her success on her parents whom she says were very supportive towards her education through prompt school fees payment, provision of scholastic materials and counselling among others.

Ekwany said St. Mary’s Girls’ College-Aboke was also instrumental in her good performance due to commitment and close supervision of learners by teachers. She asked all parents to support their children’s education to achieve good performance.

Ekwany speaks out on results

Ekwany’s mother, Adong Loyce Hope who is a teacher of Comboni College-Lira city links her daughter’s excellent performance on the fear of God in their family, parental guidance, and involving educational experts to offer guidance to their children. Adongo advised parents to remain close to their children and support their education, irrespective of their gender.

She challenged schools to complete the syllabus in time to allow learners ample time for revision.

Adong on UCE results

Ekwany scored D1 in physic, D1 in chemistry, D1 in agriculture, D1 in English 1, D1 in commerce, D1 mathematics, D2 in CRE, D2 in Geography, C3 in biology, D2 in history, and she intends to become a doctor.

St. Mary’s Girls College-Aboke emerged as 28th best school in 2022 UCE exams in Uganda out of 1,824 schools that got first grade.

Some of the other best performers in Lango in 2022 UCE exams also include; Victor Eturot from Lira High School who scored aggregate 17, Rita Emol Mercy of St Gracious SS-Lira city who scored aggregate 13, Daniel Omara also from St. Gracious, Lira City who scored aggregate 15, Ekwaro Kizito from Comboni College, Lira city who got aggregate 18, Allan Orec also from Comboni College, Lira got aggregate 11, while Abor Innocent from Comboni College, Lira city got aggregate 16 among others. 

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) released the 2022 UCE results yesterday.
