West Lango diocese, Agwiciri PS  feud over roads compensation funds

West Lango diocese is embroiled in a feud with the leaders of Agwiciri primary school over 68 million shillings compensation funds for the Apac municipality-Lira to Puranga road construction project.

Leaders of the school reported the matter to Kole North MP also the general secretary of Lango parliamentary group, Dr. Samuel Opio who visited the school with officials from Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and Gulsan Construction Company, the project contractor yesterday.

The chairperson School Management Committee of Agwiciri Primary school, Washington Omua accused the Bishop of West Lango, Ceaser Nina of advocating for the compensation funds to be wired to the diocesan accounts. Omua said the Chief Administrative Officer of Kwania, chairman LC5 chairman and the Resident District Commissioner have all directed that the same funds be sent on the accounts of Agwiciri Primary school whose land has been affected by the project.

The area LC1 chairman, Moses Omongo expressed fear that the struggle for the funds may affect the development of the school.

Jacklyn Lamuno, the Land acquisition officer under UNRA said the school and West Lango diocese should resolve the matter to allow government send the compensation funds.

MP Opio Acuti said Lango parliamentary group will find amicable means to resolve the matter to allow the project to proceed.

Sam Olili the house hold and community transformation coordinator of West Lango who represented the Bishop of West Lango diocese said their policy stipulates that all monies meant for schools under Church of Uganda should be sent to the diocesan accounts.
