Court orders All Saints University, to pay Shs718 million to former staffs

The Industrial Court sitting in Lira city has ordered All Saints University, Lango to pay 718 million shillings to the university former staffs.

The follows a case filed by 16 former staffs of All Saints University, Lango led by Nelson Chong over non-payment of their salaries.

Justice Anthony Wabwire Musana who presided over the case ordered All Saints University to pay the complainants three installments starting 1st July 2023, failure of which further action will be taken against the university.

Last week, Justice Wabwire Musana advised All Saints University, Lango to seek mediation with the complainants and return to court, but this seems to have hit a snag.

The lawyer who represented former staffs of All Saints University Lango, Ponciano Okello said this should serve as a deterrent to other employers who may refuse to pay their workers.

Nelson Chong who led the former staffs of All Saints University, Lango welcomed the ruling with excitement.

The vice chancellor, All Saints University, Lango Prof. Anthony Andrew Cula said they will pay the complainants once their resource envelope allows.
