Interdiction letter of Dokolo staffs

By Denis Okello (denis.okello@vol.co.ug)

Two staffs of Dokolo district have threatened to drag the district to court over irregular interdiction.

On 2/1/2023, Dokolo district Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Alex Felix Majembe interdicted Moses Otim, the district principal human resource officer and Daniel Ekuka, the senior human resource officer over abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds. This was after the duo allegedly retained the names of deceased civil servants on the government pay roll.

Majembe in his letter said that the Inspectorate of Government, State House Anti-Corruption unit and police launched investigation against the duo on 8/8/2022 and asked them to step aside, in line with section 64 (3a) of the local government Act cap 243.

But Otim Moses and Daniel Ekuka wrote to the CAO asking him to stay their interdiction since payment of civil servants   has been shifted to departments, meaning they are not accountable to the irregular payments made to deceased civil servants.

Thy have given the CAO seven days to rescind their interdiction, failure of which they will drag the district to court.

Effort to speak to Dokolo district CAO, Alex Felix Majembe on the matter was futile as he did not answer our phone calls.
