Lira regional referral hospital authority is investigating one of its staff over indiscipline and abuse of office after he allegedly turned away a 75 year old critically ill patient who turned up for treatment on a Sunday.

It is reported that Esther Okabo who is suffering from hypertension went to seek treatment at Lira Regional Referral Hospital last Sunday but the doctor who was on duty reportedly sent her away, on grounds that he does not work on weekends.

Lira Regional Referral Hospital director, Dr Nathan Onyaci said the matter has been reported to his office and they have taken it up for investigation.

Lira Resident City Commissioner, Lawrence Egole said he got information about the matter and he has directed the hospital director to investigate it to bring to book, the doctor whose identity has not been revealed.
