Dokolo district woman MP by-election set for 21st March 2024

The Electoral Commission has set 21 March 2024, for Dokolo Woman MP by-election.
Dokolo District woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of MP, Cecilia Atim Ogwal on 18th January 2024.
The electoral road map for this by-election was unveiled today at Dokolo Technical School by electoral Commission chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi.

According to the electoral road map, update of the voters’ register will be conducted from today till will 15 February 2024.

Display of voters’ register will be done from 21st February 2024 to 1st March 2024 at 173 polling stations across Dokolo district.
Nomination of candidates will run from 11th  to 12th  March 2024, campaigns will run from 13th to 19th March 2024, while the by- election for Dokolo district woman MP will be held on 21st March 2024.

Justice Byabakama warned Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) against interfering with the electoral process which may instigate violence.

He also banned fundraising events in Dokolo district during this electioneering period.

The electoral commission has also organized elections for special interest groups for Kwera, Bata, Dokolo town council.

Justice Byamukama called for unity an cooperation to ensure success in this election.
