Lango Paramount Chief, Yosam Odur Ebii has called for hard work and unity at workplaces to drive development.
He made these remarks on the sidelines of the International Labour Day commemorations held yesterday, with the national event taking place in Nakapiripirit District.
Odur Ebii emphasized that individuals must take responsibility for their own progress and also work collaboratively to achieve community development.
He stressed that the key to success lies in teamwork, dedication, and ensuring that all members of society contribute positively to collective growth.
Additionally, he expressed deep sorrow over the recent passing of his former Prime Minister, Col. (Rtd) Tony Otoa Ogwal.
Odur Ebii proposed that a Memorial Lecture be held annually to honor Col. Otoa’s legacy and recognize his contributions to the Lango Cultural Foundation.
In his tribute, Odur Ebii highlighted that Otoa was a staunch advocate for unity and peace in Lango, qualities that are worth emulating.
Col. Tony Otoa, who was also the clan head of Abwori, was born in 1939.
He served in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces until his retirement with the rank of Colonel. He also served as an army Member of Parliament for two terms.
At the time of his passing, he was a senior advisor to Dr. Eng. Michael Odongo Okune, the Paramount Chief of Tekwaro me Lango Cultural faction.
