Four people struck dead by Lighting in Lira

Four people were struck dead by lightning on Saturday night in Ayami Sub County, Lira district.

Ayami Sub County chairman Tom Obur said the incident occurred in Nga-akwia, Walela parish as the deceased were taking shelter in a grass thatched hut.

The deceased were identified as; Obong Jimmy 32, Acio Jenifer 26, Opok Abraham 5, a son to Acio Jenifer, and Okum Brian  14, brother to Acio Jenifer.

Obur said the lightning also burnt down the house in which the deceased were taking shelter.

By press time, Obur said police had visited the crime scene and gave permission to Cabakol and Palamyek clans to which the deceased belonged to go ahead with their burial slated for Tuesday.
