Otuke

Otuke district council is seeking for the transfer of the District Police Commander and deputy Resident District Commissioner of Otuke over the recent arrest of district leaders in Lango who had organized a security meeting to discuss the rising cattle theft by suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers in Otuke and Alebtong districts.

On Friday, Otuke district council resolved to write to the ministry of local government and office of the president and the Inspector General of Police to request for the transfer of the District Police Commander of Otuke, Sadak Saliba and the deputy Resident District Commissioner Akol Godfrey Oumu whom they say are not supporting the fight against the cattle rustlers.

The speaker of Otuke district council Ogwal Lameck said since the DPC and deputy RDC of Otuke went on to arrest some district leaders and also foiled a meeting organized in Acanpii, on 20th/05/2023 to discuss and derive solution to cattle rustling, they can no longer continue to work with them because they have proven not to be ready to support them in fighting cattle theft in the district.
