Kwania

Two people yesterday died mysteriously in Kwania district after a witchdoctor performed magic spells on them to identify motorcycle thieves.

The incident happened in Alany Cell, Teduka Ward, Aduku Town council Kwania district.

This comes after one Ogwang Owani Cezi, a member of St. Peters Cathedral-Adukuwho who lost his motorcycle from the church premise last week brought a witchdoctor to help him recover it, after his passionate plea with the motorcycle thieves to return it proved futile.

The witchdoctor whose identity has not been established but reportedly hails from Soroti district performed magic spells on five people who were suspected of stealing Owani’s motorcycle.

However, yesterday two of the five suspected motorcycle thieves died mysteriously.

The deceased have been identified as; Denis Okello, a resident of Inyer village, Apire parish, Aduku Sub County, and Okello Adunia, a blocker who operates in Aduku town council.

The dean of St. Peters Cathedral Aduku, Rev. Canon Vincent Ogwang condemned acts of witchcraft being embraced by people and is taking the lives of Christians.

Kwania Resident District Commissioner, Richard Arikwanga Noon tasked leaders at all levels to be vigilant and stop witchdoctors or people who perform deliverance prayers from operating in their areas if they do not have clear knowledge about their activities.

By press time yesterday, the matter had not been reported to police as locals fear that the witchdoctor could equally cause their death if they report the case.
