Omodo Omodo told journalists on Saturday that Omara Atubu’s repeatedly hate speech on President Museveni as the greatest enemy and abuser of human rights in Uganda has derailed Lango from lobbying from the government.

Omodo also said Omara Atubu is doing all sorts of propaganda because he wants sympathy from Lango so that he can be elected Paramount Chief of Lango.

But Omara Atubu describes Omodo Omodo’s allegations as open lies intended to discredit him because he is right to challenge the government for abusing democracy and human rights.

The conflict in Lango Cultural institution started in 2012 when the speaker by then, Wakili Okello was sidelined during a tour by Won Nyaci Yocam Odur Ebii and his delegation to Europe and America. The tour was reportedly sponsored by the state.

This however prompted a section of rival clan heads that are against the leadership of current Lango cultural leadership to appoint, Benjamin Okii, the head of Okii-Bura Clan as the acting Paramount chief and now headed by Dr Eng Moses Michael Odongo Okune, who once served as prime minister of Lango Cultural Foundation.

Since then, several mediation meetings have been held to resolve the conflict in the cultural institution in vain.

Robert Ajal, the prime minister of Lango Cultural Foundation says Lango has a total of 149 clan heads but Yosam Odur, the recognized Lango cultural leader appears to be having the majority.
