70 pregnant women in Oyam received free mama kits

For the first of its kind in Oyam District woman member of parliament for Oyam District has launched the distribution of mama kits starting  with pregnant mothers of Acaba sub-county at Atipe health center three yesterday.

Santa Alum the woman member of parliament for Oyam District donated  70 mama kits, basins to the pregnant mother and mosquito net to breast feeding mother of Atipe health center 3 in Acaba sub-county.

During the launch of mama kits distribution in Oyam District, Alum said it was her pledge made some times back when she made a visit  with some of the MPs and Living Goods, a non-governmental organisation, at Atipe health center 3 last year and community raised concern about mama kit challenges they are facing.

Lameck Olal the in-charge of Atipe health center 3 thanked Hon Santa for her outstanding effort to help people of Oyam through personal sacrifice and added that pregnant mothers should go and keep mama kits given to them very well.

On the other hand, Rev Robert Elai  Alele the parish priest of Dogapio parish who represented the board of the facility congratulated the tangible work of Hon Santa Alum in Oyam District to enhance health department.

During the hand over, Christ Ongom, a councilor representing Acaba in District council of Oyam who also doubled as Santa’s representative in Acaba expressed concern that it was difficult for the pregnant mothers to afford.

A mama kit package contains a one meter piece of cotton cloth (baby wrapper), one laundry soap, a pair of gloves, a piece of cotton wool, small gauze, cord ligature, and a meter of polythene sheet which is used on the delivery table.
