Oyam farmers to loosed 300.70 million over their failure to co-fund 25% in irrigation program

This was reveal by Hon Christ Ongom who is the Vice chairperson LCV of Oyam district during a meeting organized to address small scale micro irrigation farmers on how to co-fund for irrigation equipment so that funds under this project is not taken back to the ministry of agriculture.
Ongom further explained that this project was brought as a result of climatic change which is resulting into drought that affect people’s life negatively through famine and poverty calling for people to join the project in order to increase the level of production and productivity.
Conclusively he appeal to farmers who are willing to join the project to come and co-fund as soon as possible so that money for this project is not taken back to the national treasury and this must be remitted before 15th.June.2024.

Irine kyelengat the deputy chief administrative officer of Oyam district in her remark said Oyam district Agricultural department had received 669,434,027 shillings to support farmers under small irrigation program but only 19 farmers out 200 managed to comply, where she appeal to those one who have paid to encourage their colleague farmers who have capacities to also join.

Cox Albino Ogwal, the district production officer of Oyam said Government is emphasizing on this program because climate is not favorable to farmers where he appeal to them to pay money for the equipment at this time so that they can be help immediately.
However, some farmers revealed that they have already registered a number of challenges in this program including delays of the system by District procurement, drought and poverty among others.
