Oyam DPC on spot over allegation of conniving with thieves

This concern was raised by some Residents in the three areas including Barokok,Aluta and Abia Cells during a security meeting held in Abia Cell Eastern Ward in Oyam Town Councilfrom yesterday.

According to these locals a police officer only Identified as Odongo and his friend Omodo who is a civilian have been extorting money from them for a decade with the claim that they were sent by the DPC of Oyam Muhangi Edison so that their impounded motorcycles be given back however they testified that they when they paid that money their motorcycles were not given back upto now.

Tonny Owiny the Lc2 Chairperson of  Eastern Ward in Oyam Town Council who organised this security meeting said he called that meeting because of rampant cases of insecurity in those areas where he sais most of his locals bought these motorcycles out of ignorance which calls for serious sensitisation by traffic police.

Stephen Okello Marosoni the Lc3 Chairman of Oyam Town Council equally confirmed his office has  recieved several cases of these nature where he appealed to police to link their locals with Uganda Ravenue Authority for some induction training and sensitisations so that their people be saved from buying stolen motorcycles.

David Odongo Owino the Community Liencence Officer  of Oyam District however attributed all these complaints to communication gaps between police and Civilians that needs to be address with immediate effect.

Owino Further believes that DPC Edison Muhangi is still a new officer in Oyam who can not involve in such act caustioning junior officers who are black mailing Afade DPC that they will face serious disciplinary measures.

Speaking to Shine Fm reporter during a telephone interview  the accused DPC of Oyam District SP Muhangi Edison refuted this allegation saying it is baseless.
