Residents of Kibaale district have been urged to join forces against plastic littering, which remains a major challenge in environmental conservation.

The call was made by the Minister of Finance, Matia Kasaija, who also serves as the area MP for Buyanja county, during the World Environment Day celebrations at St Mugaga Secondary School in Mugarama subcounty.

The message was delivered on his behalf by Kibaale District Woman MP Noeline Basemera Kisembo.

Minister Kasaija also urged leaders to consult the relevant authorities in Kibaale District to develop physical development plans through established community structures in the rapidly urbanising trading centres, in order to accelerate interventions.

This followed concerns raised by leaders, including LC3 Chairpersons, over the lack of physical development plans for rapidly growing trading centres and the challenges they face in ensuring proper waste management.
