Primary school teacher remanded over aggravated defilement charges in Kibaale

A 24-year-old Grade III primary school teacher has been charged and remanded to Kibaale Prison over allegations of aggravated defilement in Kibaale District.

The Kibaale Grade One Magistrate’s Court, presided over by His Worship Derick Kamanzi, remanded Samson Kule, a teacher at Holy Angels P/S in Kibeedi Cell, Nyamarunda Town Council, Kibaale District, yesterday.

The prosecution informed the court that, on 17 October this year, the accused was allegedly involved in sexual activity with a P.6 pupil. The identity of the pupil is being withheld in line with legal protections.

It was also reported that the pupil is now pregnant, allegedly as a result of the incident.

In court, the accused was not allowed to enter a plea to the charges, as offences of a capital nature can only be tried by the High Court.

He has been remanded until 13 December for further mention of the case.
