Kibaale district councilors are demanding for the interdiction of the acting district engineer, Chrysostom Bagire on allegations of misallocating public funds.
During the heated council sitting chaired by Deputy Speaker Juliet Bikara on Friday at the District headquarters council hall, the bitter councilors questioned the acting district engineer Chrysostom Bagire why he misallocated about 800 million shillings.

Councilors led by Gerald Bigirwa Bacwa, the district councilor representing people with disabilities reveal that on 30th of May this year, the council approved a supplementary budget worth Shs800 million for emergency maintenance of 5 roads.
The roads include, Kaisekenkere- Kajuma- Wantema- Kasenyi- Kayanja road (14.0km), Kitoma- Kakindo- Rusandara- Mitujju road (13.0km), Nyamarunda- Nyanswinga- Kahara- Mbirizi- Kyanyi road (8.0km), Kabasekende- Ngerebwe- Kaihamaino- Kyebijurura- Rwamagando- Rubona road (12.0km) and Kisega- Kasambya- Buhuumi- Kikaada road (9.6km).
The issue came to light in the recent council sitting where the councilors directed the committee of works to monitor and come up with a report regarding the utilization of the said funds which was presented today but rejected by the councilors.
Today, the standing committee chairperson for works and technical services Kenneth Nzamuye who is also the district councilor of Kyakazihire Sub County presented a report on roads in which they were worked on using supplementary budget for emergence maintenance of roads within the district.

It indicates the roads that were funded including Igimbi- Kibogo- Kyanyi- Makukuru and Kagasiya- Kisiita- Kayoora roads worth over 125.8 million shillings, Kahyoro- Igomero- Kayanja and Kicunda- Kiziriga- Kyakacucu roads worth over 187.3 million shillings, Hakasaraba- Kamusiima- Kitengeto- Muliika and Ngangi- Nyamarwa- Mubende boarder worth over 50 million shillings.
Others include Kaisekenkere- Kajuma- Wantema- Kasenyi- Kayanja road worth 212 million shillings and Kabasekende- Ngerebwe- Kaihamaino- Kyebijurura- Rwamagando- Rubona and Kisega- Kasambya- Buhumi- Kikaada road worth 210 million.
During their deliberations, councilors accused the district leadership and technical team for diverting other funds to unmentioned sectors insisting that that the office of the IGG and State House Anti-corruption unit must further investigate the matter and sanction the interdiction of the Acting District Engineer.
Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga the district LCV chairperson insists that the money was used in the rightful way to pay arrears of contractors and that the district is still demanding a balance of 793 million shillings from government.

This forced, Juliet Bikara the deputy speaker to direct the district auditor to investigate the matter and come up with the report in the next council.
