NRM’s Musa Tom wins Nyamarunda town council repeat election

The NRM flag bearer, Agaba Musa Tom, has been declared the Direct District Councillor-elect for Nyamarunda Town Council in Kibaale District following a repeat election held on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.

Tom secured 1,412 votes, representing 51.23% of the total votes cast, defeating the incumbent and independent candidate, Peter Magezi, who received 1,344 votes, equivalent to 48.77%.

The repeat election was conducted after the earlier general election on 22 January ended in a tie, with both Agaba Musa Tom and Peter Magezi polling 1,418 votes each.

Jackline Atuhairwe, the Kibaale District Returning Officer, officially declared Agaba Musa Tom the winner on Tuesday night. He will now represent Nyamarunda Town Council in the Kibaale District Council for the 2026–2031 term.

In his remarks shortly after being declared the winner, Agaba Musa Tom thanked voters for the trust they had placed in him and pledged to provide services to all residents equally.
