Apac Municipal Council approves 62 roads for naming and rehabilitation

Apac Municipal Council has approved plans to name 62 roads after prominent individuals who contributed to the development of Apac Municipality, while also identifying roads that require rehabilitation.

The decision was reached during a council meeting held on 16 August 2026, following discussions on road naming, rehabilitation and the need to improve road infrastructure across the municipality.

Daniel Garry Ogweng, Chairperson of Production, Marketing, Works and Technical Services at Apac Municipal Council, confirmed the development in an interview with Radio Apac yesterday.

Ogweng said the proposal to name some roads after individuals who made significant contributions to Apac was initiated by the previous council as a way of recognising their efforts in the municipality’s development.

He said the 62 roads proposed for naming are distributed across the municipality’s four divisions, with 13 in Arocha Division, 19 in Akere Division, nine in Atik Division and 23 in Agulu Division.

Ogweng said the proposals will be presented to the next council for consideration and approval.

He added that his department will meet on 16 September 2026 to review the process and prepare a detailed report for presentation at the next council meeting. The report will assess progress and guide implementation of the agreed plans.

Ogweng also urged councillors to identify roads in poor condition within their respective areas and submit the details to the council.

He said an updated list would help the council determine rehabilitation priorities and allocate an appropriate budget to improve road conditions and ease transport challenges faced by residents across Apac Municipality.
