Three children have been admitted to Apac General Hospital after being diagnosed with measles, the Apac District Health Officer, Dr Daniel Odongo, has confirmed.

Dr Odongo made the disclosure today during the launch of a mass measles vaccination campaign targeting children aged between nine months and five years across the district.

The campaign was launched at Apac Pride Nursery and Primary School in Apac Municipality.

Dr Odongo said three measles cases were recorded in the district last month in Ilee Village in Teboke Sub-county and Wansolo Village in Apoi Sub-county.

He said the cases prompted the district health team to organise the vaccination exercise to contain further transmission.

A total of 36,382 children are expected to receive the measles vaccine during the campaign.

Apac District Health Officer Dr Daniel Odongo speaks on the measles cases and the district-wide vaccination campaign.

Dr Odongo has urged parents and caregivers to watch for signs of measles and seek medical attention promptly if their children develop symptoms.

These include fever, a skin rash, red eyes and mouth sores.
