Apac District Local Government defeated Radio Apac 92.9 FM by one goal to nil in an exciting football match held at Apac Boma Grounds as the district joined the rest of Uganda to celebrate the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

The match attracted a huge crowd and several dignitaries, including Maruzi County Member of Parliament Peter Obong Acuda, Kwania District Chairperson George KK Akaca, Apac Municipality Mayor Maclean Odongo Awada and Apac District LC5 Chairperson Ambrose Agec Opio, among others.

The decisive moment came in the closing minutes of the first half when Bonny Ajal, a teacher at Maruzi Seed Secondary School, converted a free kick to give Apac District Local Government the lead. Despite Radio Apac’s efforts to find an equaliser, the district team held on to secure a 1–0 victory.

Speaking at the opening of the match, Apac Municipality Mayor Maclean Odongo Awada commended Apac District Local Government and Radio Apac for organising the game, describing it as an important initiative for promoting unity and bringing communities together.

The Radio Apac Station Manager, Mike Okwang Ogule, acknowledged the strength of both teams and thanked the players and organisers for entertaining the public during the Independence Day celebrations.

Okwang, however, maintained that the defeat would not weaken his team’s resolve, saying Radio Apac team remained strong.
