Ibuje chairpersons urged to shun partisan politics and prioritize service delivery

Newly sworn-in local leaders in villages and parishes across Ibuje Sub-county have been urged to put aside political and religious differences and prioritize service delivery as they assume office.

The call was made by the Ibuje Sub-county Chairperson, Hon. Alex Ogota, while addressing newly sworn-in LC1 and LC2 chairpersons from Ibuje Sub-county and Ibuje Town Council on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Ogota said the swearing-in ceremony should mark the beginning of improved service delivery at the grassroots, urging the leaders to protect government programmes and public facilities, including health centres and schools.

He also called on the leaders to support the maintenance of roads and other community infrastructure to improve the welfare of residents.

The chairperson commended the Government of Uganda, under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for organizing local council elections, describing grassroots leadership as an important foundation of governance.

Ogota further called on the newly sworn-in leaders to forgive one another and work together for the development of their communities.

He stressed that political differences should not prevent residents from accessing government services.

Ogota also asked LC1 chairpersons in trading centres to identify coordinators who can help manage activities and improve service delivery in the centres.

Ibuje Sub-county has 50 villages and six parishes. However, two LC1 chairpersons did not attend the swearing-in ceremony.

One of them, the LC1 chairperson of Amwonyocao A Village, is expected to report to the Chief Administrative Officer to take the oath of office and receive the official stamp.

Ibuje Sub-county is also implementing several government programmes, including the Parish Development Model, Operation Wealth Creation and various restocking initiatives.
