Police in Kwania district have issued a stern warning to civil servants against child neglect, prompted by multiple complaints received by the Child and Family Protection Unit.

The warning was issued on June 18, 2024 during the commemoration of the Day of the African Child for Kwania district, held at Ikwera Negri primary school in Aduku town council.

ASP Okello Akech, the officer in charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Kwania Central Police Station, stated that they have received several complaints of child neglect registered against civil servants in Kwania District.

She said the civil servants are accused of having affairs with women, whom they impregnate and neglect the children. However, Nicholas Akwang, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Kwania, condemned such acts but stated that he has not received any complaints of child abandonment against civil servants in the district.

Mary Ayiga Alal, a pupil of Ikwera Negri Primary School for the disabled and chief guest at the Day of the African Child, cautioned parents against engaging in actions that could adversely affect their children’s future.
