Police in Apac district have launched a search for a Balalo herdsman in connection with the death of a 17-year-old youth.
It is alleged that on 15 September 2024, in Acenglyet village, Ayeolyec parish, Akokoro sub county, a Balalo herdsman identified only as Nasima struck Steven Ogwal on the head with a shepherd’s stick during a disagreement over crops being damaged by cattle he was grazing.
Ogwal was rushed to a private clinic in Akokoro town council, where he died. Rodgers Akena, a local resident, alleged that the suspect had made a habit of grazing cattle in people’s gardens.
Nasima and his entire family have since gone into hiding. Rodgers Kapere, the DPC of Apac, stated that they have launched an investigation into the matter, and a search for Nasima is ongoing.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives for burial by the police after a post-mortem was conducted.
