Police in Kole district have arrested three women after the genitals of a one-year-old male toddler were found to be missing while his body was being kept under vigil.

The women, identified as Ejang Winny (the child’s mother), Adong Sandra (the child’s paternal aunt), Acen Aida (the child’s grandmother), and Akullu Magaret (the child’s step-grandmother), were keeping watch over the deceased’s body on Wednesday.

The incident came to light when, on Thursday morning, part of the child’s genitals was discovered to be missing.

The LC1 chairman of Te-keo, western ward A in Bala town council, Okello Abraham, alerted the police after noticing the missing body part while the body was being measured for burial.

The child’s body has since been transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem.

Okello explained that the child’s death occurred under mysterious circumstances while in the care of a seven-year-old babysitter, while the mother had gone to cut grass.
