Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday denied bail to the former Resident District Commissioner of Moyo, Nebbi, and Nakapiripirit, Mr. Labeja Bob Williams and further remanded him until March 7th, 2023.

Labeja bob Williams has been charged with manslaughter after the mysterious death of his wife, Ms. Abalo Jackline

According to His Worship Nashiero Mwandha, the presiding magistrate, the court staff who were supposed to work on Labeja’s bail application were absent on Tuesday thus his bail couldn’t be processed.

Among other grounds that Labeja presented for him to be granted bail was that he is diabetic and needed medical attention.

He also presented four sureties. They are Hon. Nokrach Reagan, the Councilor IV for Guu B Ward in Kitgum Municipality, Kidega Christopher, Olweny Hellen Salama and Martin Anyala.

The hearing of his bail application will come back for hearing on Monday, 7th March 2023 at the Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Labeja is alleged to have caused the death of his wife Jackline Abalo after a domestic brawl. Jackline breathed her last on February 14, 2023 from Bregma Medical Centre in Kitgum municipality where she had been rushed for urgent medical attention.

After several postponements of the date for her burial, the family has finally announced that she will be laid to rest on Saturday 4th March 2023.
