The State Minister for Northern Uganda, Dr Omona Kenneth has advised Acholi leaders to join hands in the fight against poverty in the Acholi Sub Region.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of 584 students at Acholi Regional Presidential Skilling Hub in Onyama sub-county, Gulu district on Friday last week, Dr Omona noted that Acholi region remains the poorest region in the country which should be a wake-up call for all the leaders who are sleeping on the job.

He asked the electorates in the region to vote out all the leaders who have not been instrumental in the fight against poverty.

Dr Omona noted that the people need to be united through poverty alleviation so that everyone is able to live as brothers and sisters without being despised by other regions in terms of wealth and prosperity.

He revealed that he will soon convene a meeting with the leaders in Acholi sub-region to chat lasting solutions to poverty and urged leaders to use the various platforms they get to preach the gospel of wealth creation.

The Minister appeals to all adults to work for money, pay taxes and ensure food security is secured in their households and communities.
