Born Agains to Celebrate 76 Years of Salvation

The Chosen Evangelical Revival – CER together with other Pentecostal Churches are set to celebrate 76 years of the born again faith in Uganda (locally referred to as Pwoyo Lar).

The celebrations which will be hosted by the C.E.R Church in Kitgum Municipality will take place on the 29th September, 2023.

According to Reverend Anthony Olak, the Chairperson of the Central Organizing Committee, over 10,000 believers are expected to grace the celebrations. He asked well-wishers to support the committee and use the day to preach peace and unity in the country.

Bishop Ocan Robert Tubamoi, the bishop of the Eastern Diocese which comprises of Acholi, Karamoja and Teso, narrated that the day is celebrated to remind the believers about the introduction of the Gospel in Acholi.  According to him, the first Acholi to receive salvation was the late Yusto Otunu, the father of Ambassador Dr Olara Otunu in 1947.

Bishop Tubamoi also revealed that during the celebrations which will be graced by the Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo as the Guest of Honor, there will be massive praise and worship, showcasing of the different traditional dances and fundraising for the bishop’s residence and office. He also asked for the day to be gazette as a public holiday.

The day’s theme is; “How shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?” taken from Hebrews 2:1-4.
