Over 9,500 households affected by the Karamojong rustlers in Chua East constituency in Kitgum district are set to receive relive food items donated by the Office of the Prime Minister.
This after the Office of the Prime Minister delivered 40 tons of maize flour and 20 tons of beans to be distributed to the households affected by the Karamojong in Orom, Kiteny, Orom East, Namokora and Omiya Anyima sub counties and Namokora Town council
Mr. Olaro Emmanuel Eugene the Kitgum district Chief Administrative Officer notes that the relief food is not for general distribution and stressed that sub county leaders should make sure the rightful beneficiaries are selected to receive the relief food items.
While receiving the relief food items which were delivered by the Uganda People’s Defense Forces and a few OPM staff at the district headquarters on Thursday, Mr. Ebil Jimmy Ssegawa, the Kitgum Resident District Commissioner called for transparency in the distribution of the relieve food.
He asked the CAO to write to the office of the president requesting for more relieve Food since the one delivered by the OPM is insufficient.
The relief Food items are currently being kept at the Kitgum district headquarters as the district officials work out modalities of distribution to the affected households in Chua East Constituency.
