System failures and poor network coverage has delayed the start of census in Kitgum district, according to the District Census Officer, Mr. Kibwota Paul Mulya.
During a live telephone interview this morning, Kibwota told Tembo FM that some gadgets have failed while in some areas, the collection of data is being hampered by poor network, given that the census is being conducted digitally. He also revealed that four other tablets had failed to charge.
He said this has affected up to 15 enumerators in the Sub Counties of Namokora North, Namokora and Labongo Akwang among others.
Mr. Kibwota said that the poor network has made it impossible for the enumerators to log into the UBOS system. He also disclosed that the tablets are few forcing supervisors to surrender their gadgets to aid the enumerators’ work for the success of the activity.
He however said they are working on the anomalies and assured that everyone will be counted in the 10 days’ exercise that commenced today.
