Karasuna youths from Kotido district in the Karamoja sub-region, under Kotido Diocese, have apologised to the people of the Acholi sub-region for various atrocities such as killings and theft of animals.

The apology was made during a security border meeting on Friday, November 29, 2024, with the youths in Orom subcounty, Kitgum district. The meeting was organised by the Justice and Peace Commission of Gulu Archdiocese and chaired by the Namokora Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Alfred Okumu.

Mr. Adepangimoe Peter Lopukko, the team leader of the Karachuna youth, said they have decided to make peace with the youths in Orom and the subcounties that have been victims of cattle raids.

He noted that, although many families have lost their livestock, some have been injured, and others have lost their lives, it is now time for the two communities, the Acholi and the Karimojong, to come together and make peace.

He also said that the Karachuna youths will work with the diocese to engage those warriors still involved in cattle raids to desist from the practice.
