Road accident claims one in Acholibur

A road accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle in Acholibur town council, Pader district on Wednesday evening claimed one life and left another person severely injured.
The accident occurred in Lawod Apwoyo village, Acholibur subcounty along Kitgum-Acholibur road at 6:20 pm. The deceased was identified as Betty Aciro, 39, a wife of Mr. Odida Robert, the LCI chairperson of Lugade village in Acholibur subcounty, who sustained a broken leg in the accident.
Hon. Okot Richard, the Ogago Parish Councilor in Acholibur, subcounty told Tembo FM that the couple was heading to Laguti to deliver a letter inviting their parents to a VSLA party known as “Kalulu” scheduled for December 8, 2024. Mr. Okot said they were hit from behind by a pick-up double cabin with registration number UFZ 822G while riding a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number UBQ 881P, causing them to lose control.
Ms. Aciro died on the spot, while her husband was rushed for medical facility for treatment. Mr. Okot blamed the accident on over-speeding and reckless driving.
The case has been registered at Acholibur Police Station, and the unidentified driver is under police custody pending investigation.
