Police in Pader District are investigating a fatal road accident in which a motorcyclist, identified as Kilama Philip, died after colliding with a stray cow along the Gulu–Kitgum Highway.
The accident occurred on October 23, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m. in Ogom Village, Pucota Parish, Angagura Sub-County, Pader District.
Preliminary police information indicates that Kilama, a resident of Giso Paiula Sub-County, was riding a red Bajaj motorcycle, registration number UG-5955C, from Gulu towards Kitgum when he encountered a cow in the middle of the road.
He reportedly knocked the cow, fell off the motorcycle and lost consciousness. Good Samaritans rushed him to a clinic in Angagura Trading Centre for treatment, but he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
Police officers from Angagura responded to the scene after being notified. Arrangements were being made to transport the deceased’s body to Kitgum for a post-mortem examination to establish the actual cause of death.
SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, Police Spokesperson for the North Kyoga Region and Acting PRO for the Aswa West and Aswa East regions, said the motorcycle and the suspected cow had been taken to Angagura Police Station pending an inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) and a veterinary examination, respectively.
Okema added that traffic officers from Atanga and the main police station would revisit the scene to reconstruct the accident and document further evidence.
