Pilgrims from Lango Diocese will be flagged off in early February ahead of this year’s St Janani Luwum Day commemoration, which is scheduled to take place at Wi-Gweng in Mucwini Sub county, Kitgum District.

According to the Director of Mission for Lango Diocese, Rev Capt Patrick Benson Ogwang, the pilgrimage will begin on 11 February from Boroboro, with pilgrims proceeding to Agweng. On 12 February, they will move to Puranga, before continuing to Pajule and Acholi Bur on 13 February. The group is expected to arrive in Kitgum on 14 February.

Rev Capt Ogwang said each pilgrim is required to contribute UGX 50,000 to cover transport and food during the journey.

He also revealed that a public lecture will be held on 14 February at the school where the late Archbishop Janani Luwum studied in Lira.

Rev Capt Patrick Benson Ogwang outlines the itinerary and contributions for the St Janani Luwum Day pilgrimage.

This year’s commemoration, organised by Lango and West Lango dioceses, will be held under the theme “Achor in Christ for Stability, Peace and Unity,” with Bishop Ashley Null serving as the main preacher.
