A 26-year-old man is nursing injuries after his wife (whose name has been concealed) broke both his legs in a fight over 50,000 shillings cash box money on Sunday in Pager Division, Kitgum Municipality.
Mr. Ronald Ocakacon, a boda boda rider in Corner Mission is said to have stolen the money from their house and used it for drinking alcohol.
Mr. Abala Vincent, the Lemo East Chairperson told Tembo FM that when the wife learnt that her money was missing, she got furious and a fight ensued between her and her husband. She then overpowered him and eventually broke both his legs.
Mr. Abala said that when he tried to intervene, Ocakacaon confessed to picking the money without his wife’s consent.
Mr. Abala decried the rising cases of Gender Based Violence in Lemo East and asked couples to seek peaceful means of solving conflicts. He also called for respect for each other and urged couples to always agree over family expenses to avoid wrangles.
