Stakeholders in Pager division Kitgum municipality want the division to have a Center Headteacher who will be tasked with coordinating all the schools so that the performance of learners improves.
Ms. Aryemo Agnes Regina, the Headteacher Kitgum Boys’ Primary School explained that the Center Headteacher will represent all the schools in the division and also help in budgetary allocation in the education department. Ms. Aryemo was speaking on Monday during the division’s budget conference for the 2025/25 financial year.
She added that the Center Headteacher will monitor performance and track data for each school as well as supervise teachers among others.
Ms. Aryemo also decried the sidelining of teachers from government programs due to poor representation which makes their issues silent.
Mr. Kidega Geoffrey Ambrujoli, the Senior Assistant Town Clark for Pager division said the division used to have a Center Headteacher, but they disappeared due to resource constraints.
He also said the proposals to have active Centre Headteachers will be tabled before a meeting of the division executive committee within this second quarter for further discussion.
