The Child and Family Protection Unit (CFPU) of the Uganda Police Force in Kitgum district has registered 27 cases of missing children over the past ten months.

Mr. Michael Obong, head of CFPU at Kitgum Central Police Station, made the revelation on Friday, November 8, 2024, during the biannual sector spotlight coordination meeting organised by Kitgum district local government at the district headquarters. He revealed that of the 27 missing children, 14 are boys and 13 are girls.

Mr. Obong stated that the investigations are ongoing to locate the missing children and reunite them with their parents or guardians.

He noted that many children went missing while attending events in urban areas, with some cases attributed to the negligence of parents or caretakers who left the children unattended for extended periods.

Mr. Obong warned parents against neglecting their responsibilities and urged residents to work closely with security personnel to aid in locating and rescuing missing children.
