Panic as six-year-old is hacked to death in Amuru

Residents of Guruguru subcounty in Amuru district and the surrounding areas are living in fear after a 6-year-old boy was on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, hacked to death by unknown assailants.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong confirmed the tragic incident.

Mudong said the victim, Rwot-olara Emmanuel, is a pupil at Otici Primary School, and a resident of Owadi village, Guruguru subcounty in Amuru District. The father of the deceased, who was only identified as Mr. Ojara is said to be a teacher at Otici Primary School.

According to Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, an unknown person went under unclear circumstances and grabbed the victim from their home where he was playing together with fellow children, dragged him towards a nearby bush before hitting and cutting him with a sharp object killing him instantly and fled from the scene.

He said the police were informed and have since launched investigations as the search for the perpetrator continues, adding that the body of the deceased was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.

The Aswa West Police mouthpiece urged the members of the public to remain calm and desist from preempting the outcome of investigations surrounding the matter to avoid jeopardy.
