The sub county chief and Community Development Officer (CDO) in Kitgum district have been tasked with promptly mobilising beneficiaries and enterprises under the Parish Development Model (PDM).

This directive was issued by the Kitgum District Commercial Officer, Mr Alex Opira, during an engagement meeting held at the district council hall.

The meeting was attended by sub county chiefs, parish chiefs, PDM chairpersons, and CDOs.

Mr Opira stressed that the mobilisation of new beneficiaries and enterprises must be completed by 7 February 2025.

He further instructed that the list of beneficiaries should be publicly displayed at parish headquarters to promote transparency and ensure easy identification.

Mr Opira also addressed allegations of some sub county chiefs and CDOs extorting money from beneficiaries during the registration process. He issued a stern warning against such practices and urged leaders to uphold integrity in their duties.

Additionally, Mr Opira appealed to sub county leaders to support beneficiaries in preparing business plans and completing appraisal forms after successfully registering their enterprises.

He further advised beneficiaries not to alter their registered enterprises once entered into the system, highlighting the importance of consistency in achieving the programme’s objectives.
