LCIII chairperson arrested for financial mismanagement

The police at Kitgum Central Police Station are holding the LCIII Chairperson and a technocrat from Kitgum Matidi sub county in Kitgum district over alleged financial mismanagement.
Mr. Thomas Lapyem, the sub county chairperson, is believed to have conspired with Oroma David Jimmy, a technocrat, and two other staff members who are still at large, to steal 9 million shillings from the sub county account.
According to the Kitgum District Police Commander (DPC), ASP Peter Oyesigye, the individuals were arrested on Wednesday, 11th December 2024.
ASP Oyesigye told Tembo FM on Thursday that Mr. Lapyem had conspired with the three technocrats to withdraw the money from the sub county account and failed to provide accountability.
He added that the investigation into the allegation is ongoing and urged the others still on the run to surrender and face the charges against them.
The others on the run are the sub county accountant, Jacky Acan, and the former sub county accountant, who has only been identified as Okello.
The case is under investigation at Kitgum Central Police Station, reference CRB/117/2024.
