Assistant RDC Kitgum Calls for Action againest Teachers who Neglect Their Duty

The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in charge of Chua East Constituency, Oguti Geoffrey, has called for immediate action against teachers who neglect their duties after receiving their monthly salaries.

Oguti made the remarks following the arrest of Ojara Wilfred Olal, a Primary Three teacher at Loluku Primary School in Katwotwo Parish, Orom East Sub-county, over allegations of public nuisance and neglect of duty.

According to the information provided, Ojara is alleged to engage in excessive drinking after receiving his salary. The behaviour is reportedly not an isolated incident.

The Assistant RDC condemned such conduct, saying teachers have a responsibility to remain committed to their work and ensure learners receive the education they deserve.

Oguti also called on teachers to use their salaries responsibly and avoid behaviour that could interfere with their professional responsibilities.

He further urged the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and District Education Officer (DEO) to take immediate action against teachers found neglecting their duties, in accordance with the relevant regulations.

The Assistant RDC said accountability and discipline among teachers are important for improving service delivery in schools.

Meanwhile, the allegations against Ojara remain subject to police investigations and any subsequent administrative or legal proceedings.
