Sub-county chairpersons in Kitgum district have been urged to implement the by-law on bush burning and other forms of environmental degradation.
The call was made by Mr. Arwayi Christopher Obol, the Kitgum District Chairperson on Tuesday while appearing for his weekly talk show on Tembo Fm. Arwai said the bush burning is greatly affecting the environment and called for the implementation of relevant by-laws by the respective sub county chairpersons and other local structures.
Mr. Arwayi also asked LCI Chairpersons and councilors to sensitize the community on the dangers of bush burning.
He said the district will impose a fine on any one found burning bushes in the name of looking for bush meat or face related charges from the police.
He appeals to the community to report any bush burning activities in their areas so that the law takes it course.
