Arsenal fans in Kitgum District are expressing excitement and joy ahead of their annual charity day scheduled for June. This year, the supporters will also extend their activities with a visit to one of the prominent Arsenal supporters, Mama Sabina, in Kalongo Town Council, Agago District.
Mr. Otto Richard, the Public Relations Officer of Arsenal Fans Base in Kitgum District, said their activities are mainly focused on supporting vulnerable people in the community, including women, children, men, and persons with disabilities.
He explained that funds for the activities are raised through members’ contributions, where new members subscribe at UGX 100,000 while existing members contribute UGX 50,000. He noted that several subcounties have already embraced the charity initiative, including Lukung in Lamwo district, Mucwini, and Acholibur, while efforts are continuing to involve Wol and Namokora subcounties.
Mr.Otto Richard added that the money collected will directly support women and children affected by various diseases and challenges. He said the team will also extend support activities to Buluzi, Wild subcounty, and Agago district.
The Chairperson of Arsenal Fans Base in Kitgum District, Mr. Ojara Wilfred, said the main purpose of the group is to unite people and fight poverty through their savings schemes and community support initiatives.
He further noted that over the last 11 years, Arsenal charity activities have made significant contributions and positively changed lives in communities because of transparency and commitment to helping people.
Mr. Wilfred Ojara revealed that several well-wishers have already donated items including clothes, soap, salt, and mosquito nets to support the event. He called upon the public to turn up in large numbers and provide support where possible.
Mr. Gimei Richard , one of the Arsenal supporters, said the supporters are also working closely with the chairperson to identify a place where Arsenal fans can comfortably watch matches without interruption or violence.
He called upon Arsenal supporters to remain united and continue supporting their teams while encouraging the sports fraternity in Kitgum District to work together in promoting peace, unity, and harmony within the community.
This year’s Arsenal Fans Charity Day will be held on 13th June 2026 at Lagoro Health Centre III in Lagoro subcounty under the theme: “Supporting Women and Children.”
