Archbishop Kaziimba to Join Kitgum National Cleaning Exercise

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, is set to join Christians and residents of Kitgum District during the third National Cleaning Exercise.

The announcement was made yesterday by the Bishop of Kitgum Diocese, Rt. Rev. Wilson Kitara, during a meeting between the district security committee, the diocesan leadership and the central organizing committee ahead of the Archbishop’s visit.

The meeting, held at the RDC’s boardroom in Kitgum, was chaired by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Walter Komakech Ladit Oyoo, and attended by security officers, district leaders and representatives of the UPDF 505 Brigade, among others.

Bishop Kitara briefed the meeting on the programme for the Archbishop’s visit, saying security teams will ensure peace and order throughout the activities.

The Archbishop is currently conducting a nationwide tour to bid farewell to Christians as he approaches the end of his tenure.

According to the programme, prayers in Kitgum will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday to allow residents to participate in the National Cleaning Exercise.

Upon arrival on Friday afternoon, Archbishop Kaziimba will be received at Kitgum Bomah Ground, where a football match between Arsenal and Manchester United fans is expected to take place.

Residents are being encouraged to turn up in large numbers to welcome the Archbishop and participate in the cleaning exercise at Kitgum Main Market.
